AIPER Seagull SE Cordless Robotic Pool Cleaner Review

The key to keeping pool expenses down is proper maintenance of both the pool and its equipment. I’ve been a pool owner for a year and I’ve found that using a robot vacuum, like the Aiper Seagull SE, can make the task a lot easier and cost-effective. Overall, we highly recommend this robotic pool cleaner. Let’s dive in!

Summary

The AIPER Seagull SE is a cordless robotic pool cleaner that utilizes water propulsion to move and clean the pool. It features an integrated battery, lightweight design and an entire lower chassis that serves as a collection basket for debris. After using it for a month, reviewers found it to be easy to operate and navigate the pool, thoroughly cleaning it. Some reviewers also liked its small size, powerful suction and ease of cleaning and removing it from the pool.

Introduction

The Aiper Seagull SE is an efficient pool cleaning robot which is self-sufficient and scrubs the bottom of the pool for an hour and a half. It requires minimal effort to deploy, retrieve, rinse and charge.

The Seagull SE robot pool cleaner has a sleek, sporty design, including a rear spoiler similar to that of a carbon fiber sports car, which makes it stands out among other robot pool vacuums, including other models from Aiper.

The Aiper Seagull SE pool cleaner robot propels itself by utilizing water from the teal-colored doors located under the Aiper logo and beneath the rear spoiler, rather than motorized treads.

It has 4 wheels on the underside for easy movement, and each wheel has a slight degree of rotation for enhanced navigation. Operating the robot is simple, with only a start button needed, and the LED status indicator is easy to read from any angle, even at the bottom of the pool.

Initial Setup

It’s important to mention that before setting up, the Seagull SE pool cleaner robot is intended for flat-floor pools with no slopes. If you have a pool with a steep slope or a large curve leading up to the walls, it’s best to check with Aiper if it is compatible. As for setup, getting the robot ready for its first cleaning session is simple and requires only a few steps.

To install the brushes, simply push them onto the corresponding posts until they click into place, as shown in the upper left corner of the diagram. Connect the wall charger to a power source and then to the robot’s power port located on the bottom, ensuring the keyed geometry aligns. The robot should be kept upright while charging to prevent damage to the handle. Once these steps are completed, the robot is ready to clean your pool.

To retrieve the Seagull SE pool cleaner robot from your pool, attach the retrieval hook onto your skimmer pole and use it to hook under the handle and lift it to the surface. To empty debris, open the front and rear latches and flex the flanges on the left and right sides outward slightly to remove the top cover.

Hold the filter tray in place while tilting the robot and pouring out any water remaining in the chassis. Remove the filter and empty debris. Spray down the filter and inside of the chassis, reassemble all parts before drying the charge port and plugging it in to be ready for the next cleaning session.

How Does the AIPER Seagull SE Clean the Pool?

We reviewed the larger Seagull 3000 pool cleaner robot back in February, it has been working well and before the SE model arrived. Although the two models have significant differences. The 3000 is equipped with motorized treads, two collection baskets, a floating battery and weighs 28lbs, while SE uses water propulsion, has a built-in battery, and the entire lower chassis serves as a collection basket, it only weighs 8lbs.

The Aiper Seagull SE pool cleaner robot has several appealing features, and after using it for a month, these are some of my personal favorites:

One of the most convenient aspect is its simple operation, by just pressing a button and placing it in the water, it’s ready to use.

The Aiper Seagull SE pool cleaner robot will continue to clean the pool until the battery is low or until you retrieve it with the provided hook. The power level can be easily monitored through its bright LEDs, even when it’s at the bottom of the pool. As the battery drains, the number of lit LEDs will decrease before eventually flashing red for 60 seconds, signaling it’s time to park next to the nearest wall. I have not had the chance to see this red flashes as the device works independently while I am away.

One of the standout features of the SE is its lightweight design, it is easy to handle and maneuver, which makes it accessible to more members of the family. This feature is especially apparent when lifting it out of the water, in comparison the Seagull 3000 weighs at least 35 pounds.

The charging process is also made more comfortable as the charging port is located on the bottom and preventing it from collecting water. To charge it, you simply flip it over, plug it in, and flip it back.

The Aiper Seagull SE pool cleaner robot is an impressive machine to watch as it moves swiftly around the pool with no sound. It has two propulsion doors that are facing opposite directions, it changes direction by closing one door and opening the other, it’s fascinating to see how it smoothly navigates around the pool.

Pros

The Aiper Seagull SE robotic pool cleaner has several features that make it a pleasure to use. Its compact size and lightweight design make it effortless to start and handle, it effectively cleans the pool, it’s simple to remove and rinse out, it’s completely silent during operation and doesn’t leave a long hose in the pool.

Cons

The Aiper Seagull SE pool cleaner robot has a limited capacity, but it’s easy to clean it out and continue using it. While using it, I wish it had a cliff sensor to prevent it from falling off the Baja shelf. However, it doesn’t have an alarm to alert you when it’s full.

Conclusion

When compared to other costly pool vacuums, the Aiper Seagull SE pool cleaner robot offers excellent value. Despite its lightweight design, it has powerful suction and ample storage space for debris. It is efficient in cleaning and its small size and straightforward operation make it easy for almost anyone to handle.
