Unique Features And Attributes

As you may have gathered from the name of this Air Purifier, it uses a True-HEPA filter. Now, this True-HEPA filter – “HEPA” stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air – is only the third stage of the entire filtration process.

The first stage is the Pre-Filter. Now, the Pre-Filter takes in the air, and it filters out all of the larger particles and debris. Things like fine dust, for example, are filtered out using this Pre-Filter. This is because the other three-stages are designed for particles that are very small, and a bit trickier to filter out.

The second stage is that of an Odor Filter – or Deodorization Filter, depending on which name you prefer. With this filter, all of the nasty particles and chemicals that release some kind of odor or stench are taken in, and then they are filtered out so that they no longer emit this stench or odor. So, if you have a home that is home to a lot of cats and dogs, for example, and they are constantly doing things that leave bad smells, this is a really useful filter to have.

Now, the third stage of filtration is the aforementioned True-HEPA filter. Essentially, this takes all of the smallest particles – as small as 0.3 microns – and it filters them out. So, for things like bacteria and allergens, among others, this is a really special filter, because it gets rid of those tiny, but pesky, germs, and will reduce the risk of you getting sick, to name just one benefit.

Finally, the fourth stage is that of a Vital Ion filtration mechanism. This particular mechanism is designed to disperse the remaining particles. The harmless ones. It disperses them into other places, besides your air, using charged ions.

It’s worth noting that many people have criticized ion generators, because they release ozone into your air, and ozone has been known to lead to various health issues. So, keep that in mind.

Display

At any time, you will be able to look at a small circular screen. This screen changes colors when your air quality is good, and when your air quality is bad. This is powered by the Coway Pollution Sensor, and this sensor is able to detect the particles that are in your air, giving you a good idea of just how clean, or just how filthy, your air actually is.

On the same panel with this little screen, you have access to a timer. Press the button once for a one-hour timer. Press the button twice for a four-hour timer. Press the button three-times for an eight-hour timer.

You can also turn on the ionizer, which is the fourth stage of filtration. Same goes for the Odor Filter, which you can activate separately, using the control panel.

Finally, you also have access to the different air purification speeds. From one-to-three, but there is also a fourth option. This fourth option is “Eco Mode”, and it is a simple mode that lessens the energy usage, and provides less overall speed. However, that doesn’t mean it is inadequate, because it still works well, just not as well as the regular speeds.

Along with that, the fan speeds do make some noise. On Eco Mode, you’ll only hear about 24.4 decibels of noise. But, on the highest fan speed, you’ll hear 53.8 decibels of noise.

Honestly, there aren’t really any notable flaws to mention, with regards to the Coway AP-1512HH. For some, the inclusion of the ionizer is a misfire, simply due to the nasty health effects that ozone has on the human body. Fortunately, it’s a completely optional feature, and you don’t need to use it.

Conclusion

The Coway AP-1512HH is a fantastic air purifier. It purifies your air, and it does so in a timely and effective manner, all while giving you the flexibility to choose how your air is purified. It’s also a quiet and energy-efficient device.

It may not be as powerful as others, but if you are looking for a general-purpose air purifier, then this is a great choice!

If you have a large space you want to remove irritants from, We recommend the Airmega 400. All of Coway air purifiers do an excellent job of attacking indoor pollutants, and we highly recommend any of them.
The Levoit Vista 200 air purifier has some strong suits, but in our opinion it falls short of carving out a meaningful niche for itself. Its ideal use would be in a small bedroom occupied by someone who is sensitive to noise.
With high end air cleaning performance, the Honeywell HPA300 is the perfect combination of power and finesse. It cleared airborne particulates out of a smokey testing room faster than most air purifiers.
