iRobot vs EcoVacs vs Eufy vs Shark vs ILIFE: Robot Vacuum Guide

The market for robot vacuums has grown considerably since the very first robot vacuum was built, back in 1990. Today, many, many different brands and manufacturers are selling robot vacuums. Quite a few of these vacuums are very good. Some are even exceptional.

iRobot Roomba 690 vs Shark ION ROBOT 750: Robot Vacuum Comparison

Due to the sheer variety of choices that exist in the marketplace today, it can be a little difficult to figure out and find the right robot vacuum that will fulfill the needs that you have. Especially when you are somewhat unfamiliar with the market, and the features robot vacuums have.

By reading this article, you’ll understand the unique advantages and benefits that the iRobot Roomba 690, DEEBOT N79S, Eufy 30C, Shark ION R85, and ILIFE A7 can give you, along with the features that you should look for, and, of course, whether or not these robot vacuums are right for you.

iRobot Roomba 690

Let’s start with iRobot’s Roomba 690. The Roomba is, in all likelihood, probably the most popular robot vacuum to date. Rightfully so, the Roomba is an exceptional robot vacuum that consistently offers excellent, top-of-the-line features, along with an overall product that is incredible.

iRobot Roomba 690 Robot Vacuum

– Simple
– Easy to use
– Efficient
– Durable
– Long-lasting

iRobot has never failed to make a Roomba that doesn’t consist of all of those qualities and many more.

Right off the bat, you’ll notice the Roomba 690 is a very nice robot vacuum to own. It’s small, lightweight, simple, and sleek. It also comes with a Virtual Wall Barrier, which is a tool that enables you to restrict the vacuum to certain, specific spaces. If the vacuum is cleaning, and you only want it to clean in the kitchen, you can set up these barriers, and a signal will be emitted from the barrier device, telling the Roomba “Do Not Pass.”

Using your smartphone, or the Amazon Echo, you can create customized schedules for the vacuum, observe the cleaning reports, and tell the vacuum to start cleaning, along with several other smaller features that enable you to customize the specific procedures.

Regarding suction and overall power, the Roomba 690 consists of a 3-Stage Cleaning System, and Dual Multi-Surface Brushes which ensure that dirt and debris are sucked up.

Ultimately, the Roomba 690 is a very basic vacuum, but that’s what makes it great. It’s simple, easy to use, and it does exactly what a vacuum should do, and has all of the features that you need.

Ecovacs Deebot N79S

Just like the Roomba 690, the Ecovacs Deebot N79S is a simple device with a very sleek aesthetic. It’s light and easy to set up and use. It’s also short, which is great because it can easily go underneath your couch, chairs, and other furniture. All of this to suck up the dirt and debris that can often get stuck in those hard-to-reach spaces.

Using your smartphone or Amazon’s Alexa, you can create custom schedules, turn on the vacuum, and even control where the vacuum is moving, using four directional buttons. This is a nice feature if you have a specific area that the robot isn’t reaching, or you want to have a bit more control over what the vacuum is actually doing.

Through the use of a 3-stage cleaning system – similar to the Roomba 690 – and four individual cleaning modes, along with a “Max Mode”, the Deebot N79S is very thorough when it comes to cleaning the individual spaces in your home.

One thing to note is that the sensors are good, but not as good as the Roomba 690 because the Deebot N79S is known to get stuck on wires and objects sometimes. As such, the sensors aren’t as strong, which can be a detriment to its overall convenience and ease of use. Nevertheless, it works well at creating basic maps of each room it’s cleaning in, and it can easily avoid larger objects and obstructions.

In the end, the Deebot N79S is a great robot vacuum that is very affordable and convenient. It does require a bit more work on your end, to prevent it from becoming stuck, but it’s a very useful, handy, and simple device if you want something that has all of the basics.

Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 30C

The BoostIQ RoboVac 30C is a robot vacuum from Eufy, and it’s a more “premium” robot vacuum than the others on this list. The vacuum comes with a variety of features and additions that the other robot vacuums on this list don’t have.

Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 30C

In the box, you’ll find the robot vacuum and parts known as “Boundary Strips”. You lay these strips out, and the Eufy 30C knows not to go over these strips. The robot will stay within the defined perimeter, which gives it more time to focus on the specific space that you’ve designated, enabling the device to clean it thoroughly.

You’ll also notice that the Eufy RoboVac 30C is very quiet. This is because the vacuum uses a brushless motor, which significantly reduces the noise of the unit, especially in comparison to the previous robot vacuums on this list.

Using a system that offers 1500Pa of suction, this vacuum is incredibly thorough and efficient when it comes to cleaning. Whether it’s dirt, debris, dust, or, really, anything else, the Eufy 30C is always efficient at cleaning whatever it is that needs to be cleaned.

Part of this is because of the excellent suction, and the other part of it has to do with the 3-Point Cleaning System which consists of three-brushes that, working in conjunction with the strong suction system, enable the robot vacuum to loosen up easily and gather dirt and debris.

Ultimately, this is a quiet and very powerful robot vacuum from Eufy that is very convenient and well-designed. It’s the most powerful robot vacuum on this list, so far. If you want something that is powerful, along with having all of the conveniences of the other vacuums on this list, then this is a great choice.

Shark ION Robot Vacuum R85

The Shark ION R85 is one of the simplest and most “basic” robot vacuums on this list, but that doesn’t mean that it’s a bad robot vacuum or not as good as the other ones that we’ve looked at. Far from it. Instead, it’s a very nice, very convenient robot vacuum that works very well.

SHARK ION Robot Vacuum R85

In terms of smartphone functionality, you can only set up schedules for the vacuum. That’s the only real function that you have access to, which is limited in comparison to the other models, but still very nice and very usable.

In terms of overall suction power, it isn’t as good as some of the previous models on this list. For the most part, it can clean up dirt, dust, and debris with ease, but it doesn’t capture as much dirt as the other models. However, the distinct advantage that the Shark ION R85 has is that it has an “XL” dustbin. The dustbin is a lot larger than the dustbins on the previous models. This certainly enhances the overall convenience of the robot vacuum itself.

You also have a single “BotBoundary” strip which is similar to the BoostIQ RoboVac 30C. This particular boundary strip is 8 feet long.

Overall, the Shark ION Robot Vacuum R85 is a very simple and very easy to use robot vacuum, but if you are looking for something with extra power or functionality, this isn’t the robot vacuum for you.

ILIFE A7

Finally, we come to the ILIFE A7. This is a somewhat simple and basic robot vacuum that also has a couple of extra features that are very nice.

ILIFE A7 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner

You can use your smartphone to control the vacuum and to change its cleaning mode, as well as to create a schedule. You can also use the remote control the device comes with to do these things.

One of the most notable features is the inclusion of five individual cleaning modes. Auto Mode, which cleans in a random pattern. Spot Mode, which is a deep clean in a specific spot of the room. Edge Mode, which cleans along the edges of walls. Path Mode, which is a systematic mode of cleaning that creates these virtual paths within a room; this works best if there aren’t any obstacles in the way. Finally, there is Max Mode, which uses the highest suction setting to thoroughly clean.

Concerning general cleaning performance, the ILIFE A7 is good. While it doesn’t have the sheer range of features and functionality as the others on this list, it is very good at vacuuming, which, since it’s a vacuum, is its primary purpose.

If you want something that is powerful and more than adequate for general cleaning, the ILIFE A7 is a great choice. But, if you are looking for extended features and functionality, this might not be the right robot vacuum for you.
