LEVOIT LV-H132 vs. GermGuardian AC5250PT: Air Purifiers

For a time air purifiers were a much smaller, more niche market. Today, though, that definitely isn’t the case. Today, air purifiers are a widespread and very popular device that many, many homes are purchasing.

Why is this?

Dirty air is far from harmless. Air that is full of germs, allergens, and contaminants can easily lead to a variety of health issues. Most of these are pretty “harmless”, if incredibly annoying. Things like colds, small fevers, coughs, runny noses, etc.

However, due to the popularity and presence of inexpensive and high-quality Air Purifiers, you don’t ever need to deal with those things again. At least, not due to the presence of dirty air in your home.

For many people, this is an excellent choice, since they would much rather not get sick and have to deal with the stress of missing work, being in bed for a prolonged period of time, and, well, simply having to deal with a sickness that is entirely preventable.

If you’re on the market for a new Air Purifier, then keep on reading!

Today, we’re looking at the LEVOIT LV-H132 and the GermGuardian AC5250PT. You’ll learn the many features and distinct advantages that these air purifiers can give you.

LEVOIT LV-H132

Starting off with the LEVOIT LV-H132, you’ll notice this is a very sleek and aesthetically pleasing air purifier. It comes in two colors, black and white, and both designs are incredibly elegant.

Part of this elegance comes to the small size and form-factor. Weighing just 6,5 pounds, this air purifier definitely isn’t meant for especially large spaces. It only covers 538 square-feet, but that’s still a lot, when you consider the overall size and weight, especially in comparison to other models.

LEVOIT LV-H132

Now, the LEVOIT LV-H132 uses a Three-Stage Filtration System. This filtration system consists of a Pre-Filter, a TRUE HEPA Filter, and an Activated Carbon Filter.

Particles and contaminants go through the Pre-Filter first. This is a filter that helps to sort out the smaller and more difficult to remove particles from the bigger and less difficult to remove particles. Then, the TRUE HEPA – “HEPA” stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air – traps the really small and really nasty particles. This filter helps to remove particles that are as tiny as 0.3 microns. Finally, the Activated Carbon Filter, using a process known as “chemical absorption” removes the remaining particles and contaminants. Out of this process, you have nice, clean, breathable air.

You have three-speed settings for this air purifier. Low, Medium, and High. Each setting runs very quietly, so you can run the purifier while you are asleep, and it won’t create any difficulties for you.

Ultimately, if you want a small, relatively portable, and extremely effective air purifier, the LEVOIT LV-H132 is definitely a great choice.

GermGuardian AC5250PT

The GermGuardian AC5250PT is a heavier air purifier, that has a much smaller room coverage, as well. Instead of being able to purify 538 square-feet, you can only purify 180 square-feet.

However, the GermGuardian AC5250PT has a filtration system that is, arguably, far more thorough than that of the LEVOIT LV-H132.

GermGuardian AC5250PT vs LEVOIT LV-H132

It has been designed specifically for removing intense odors and contaminants, such as pet allergies, odors from things like smoking and cooking, and for thoroughly destroying molds and germs.

All of this is done through a filtration system that consists of three separate filters. A HEPA filter that serves as a means of capturing just about every piece of dust and assorted allergen in that aforementioned 180 square-foot radius. Then, there is the charcoal filter, which is designed to eliminate any nasty odors and smells completely. Finally, there is the UV-C filter. Now, this filter uses UV-C light mixed with titanium dioxide to kill bacteria that are airborne, as well as things like mold spores, and germs and viruses.

Due to this wide mixture of filters, the GermGuardian AC5250PT is incredibly powerful, like an air purifier. Far moreso than the LEVOIT LV-H132, due to the sheer flexibility you have when it comes to what it can purify, and the extent of the purification.

GermGuardian AC5250PT

However, you have much less space to actually work with. So, if you have a bigger space that you want to purify, this may not be the greatest choice for you.

With that being said, though, if you have a smaller space that you want to cleanse and purify thoroughly, this might be a great air purifier for you! Because it is designed for thorough cleaning within smaller spaces that have especially dirty air.

If you have a large space you want to remove irritants from, We recommend the Airmega 400. All of Coway air purifiers do an excellent job of attacking indoor pollutants, and we highly recommend any of them.
The Levoit Vista 200 air purifier has some strong suits, but in our opinion it falls short of carving out a meaningful niche for itself. Its ideal use would be in a small bedroom occupied by someone who is sensitive to noise.
With high end air cleaning performance, the Honeywell HPA300 is the perfect combination of power and finesse. It cleared airborne particulates out of a smokey testing room faster than most air purifiers.
