Today, we are taking a look at the TOSOT 70 Pint Dehumidifier. As you may have gathered from the title, this dehumidifier comes with an internal pump.
In this article, you’re going to learn about the different features this particular dehumidifier offers. As well as what kinds of flaws it presents, and who it’s for, and if that person is you.
Before we begin, as a quick refresher, let’s define what a dehumidifier actually is.
Humidifiers put more moisture into your air. But, a dehumidifier does the opposite, and actively removes moisture from your air. This lessens the risk of things like mold and mildew from growings since humidity is conducive to their growth.
Now, let’s look at what kinds of features the TOSOT 70 Pint Dehumidifier offers you!
In one-day, you can use the Tosot Dehumidifier to remove a total of 70 pints of moisture from your air. If we’re going by gallons, you can remove 9 gallons of moisture, every single day.
Naturally, though, a dehumidifier of this strength and caliber requires a strong motor and a large drain bucket. This is true of the TOSOT 70 Pint Dehumidifier, and it weighs 52 pounds, in total. So, it’s a heavy piece of machinery.
Along with that, and due to its size, it has a Maximum Area Coverage – MAC, for short – of 4,500 square feet. This means you can dehumidify a large amount of space, without the need to buy another unit for a separate room.
Because of this, it’s perfect for just about any home and any room in your home whether it’s a basement or a living room or even a garage.
Even though it can remove up to 70 pints of moisture every day, the actual drain bucket isn’t quite as large as that. In fact, the bucket can only hold 16 pints of moisture – or 2 gallons. This means that, if you’re running the device for a long period every day – or for the entire day – you’ll need to empty the drain bucket on a fairly regular basis.
Fortunately, though, if you don’t want to do that, the device comes with a hose. You can connect this hose to the dehumidifier, and it will pump out the moisture that is being extracted from the air, through the hose. It will only do this once the main drain bucket is full.
Emptying out the drain bucket is an easy process, however, and while it may be inconvenient, it is far from being difficult. Using a nice swivel handle, and a design that is very durable and prevents spilling, you can simply take it to the sink, and empty it. No need to worry about spilling or dropping the drain bucket.
Every dehumidifier has a filter, and the TOSOT 70 Pint Dehumidifier is certainly no different. But, unlike other dehumidifiers, you don’t need to replace the filter after a certain period. Every 250 hours, you’ll need to clean the filter. And you’ll know when to do this, because a small light will illuminate, telling you that it is time to clean the filter. Then, using some warm water and a little bit of detergent, you can clean the filter. Once it’s dry, put it back in the device, and it will work as good as new.
If you prefer to run your dehumidifier during the night – or even during the entirety of the day – this is a great dehumidifier for just that! This is because it produces little noise. It only produces 52 decibels of noise, while it’s working, and that is the maximum amount of noise it produces. TOSOT has said, on their product page, that 50 decibels is the amount of noise produced on a quiet suburban street, after dark.
The only flaw with this dehumidifier is that it is a bit expensive. And that’s because it’s a bigger device designed for bigger spaces and for more heavy-duty dehumidification.
At the end of the day, the TOSOT 70 Pint Dehumidifier is a great dehumidifier! If you are dealing with things like mold and mildew, and you have a big space you need to dehumidify, you can’t go wrong with the TOSOT 70.
If you have a smaller home, though, then you should find something smaller. This dehumidifier really is only designed for big homes and spaces.
