When it comes to the Roborock S5 and the Roborock S5 Max Robot Vacuum Mops, you may be wondering if there are even many differences at all. But, with a price difference of around $160, clearly there are some differences between these two smart robot vacuum mops.
If you’re wondering which Roborock is right for you, we’re here to get rid of the guesswork. We’ve compared each vacuum so you don’t have to. See which of these two fantastic vacuum mops should be at the top of your list below.
Both the Roborock S5 & the S5 Max are great vacuum mops with loads of features that will leave your home spotless without you having do put in all the work yourself.
When it comes to these nifty little gadgets, ingenuity and quality are everything, and you’ll find the addition of either of these Roborocks a brilliant investment to your cleaning cabinet.
What can I expect from both of these vacuums?
Both the S5 & S5 Max work their hardest to ensure your home is left feeling fresher and cleaner. With their almost identical shell that both measure in at 9.6cm, these vacuum mops work at 5200mAh and have a climb capacity of 2cm, so you get a powerful clean, and what’s more, no area will be left untouched.
Both vacuums can be used via a handy app, and are compatible with both Amazon Alexa and Google Home. This means that you can set them to ‘selective room cleaning’, and even create a plan for your vacuum mop’s cleaning schedule.
With the capacity to climb over small steps and thresholds, as well as the built-in ability to steer clear of dangerous edges, Roborock vacuums really push the boundaries of cleaning your home, and will literally leave no area untouched.
Ok, so what’s different then?
It’s probably obvious, but the S5 Max does have more to offer than the S5, although that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s superior. It’s also a bigger and heavier machine, so depending on the size of your space, bigger doesn’t always mean better.
Battery life and docking
With a battery life of 180 minutes, you can rest assured knowing that the S5 Max is giving your home a thorough clean. In comparison with this, you get 150 minutes of cleaning power from an S5, meaning that it works better in smaller homes as there is less to vacuum.
Whilst you don’t have to worry about the battery life of these vacuums, there are a few things you should be aware of concerning recharging.
Once your Roborock runs to empty, it will take itself back to its docking station to recharge.
For the S5, this means recharging completely before it can resume its original cleaning session. However, with the S5 Max, you’ll find that it charges just enough to continue and complete your planned cleaning session, meaning it won’t be left on charge for as long as the S5.
When it comes to noise pollution, the S5 Max reaches a height of 60db whilst the S5 can reach up to 67db whilst cleaning.
This means that the S5 Max is quieter than the S5 by up to 7db, making cleaning less of an ear-ache.
This falls down to personal preference though; 7db is hardly ear-shattering, but even so, if you’re hoping to clean after hours or you have young children or pets that get frightened easily, those 7db could make all the difference.
Water tank and dustbin capacity
The Roborock is of course a vacuum mop, meaning that it can clean both with or without water, depending on your spillages.
With a dustbox capacity of 460ml, the Roborock S5 Max promises to pick up plenty of dirt and dust.
However, beating it by just 20ml, you’ll get 480ml of pickup from the regular S5. This means that the S5 can pick up way more debris from carpeted floors, which could be the winning factor for those of you with mostly carpets in your home.
In comparison, the Roborock S5 Max boasts a hefty 290ml water tank, to aid you when tough dirt and stains need mopping up pronto and it covers an area of up to 185 square meters at once. This is over double the amount of water that the S5 can hold.
With a water tank of just 140ml, you’ll find that you won’t be able to mop such a large area, and, you’ll need to refill the water tank more regularly with the S5.
If you’re wondering how to decide on the best version for you, take into consideration the average mess in your home, and also, which floor type you have more of.
If you’re prone to having more dry, easily picked up dust, dirt and dander from carpets in your home, you may find the S5 a better fit for you.
On the other hand, if you require a better wet clean on your hard floors, the S5 Max is definitely the way forward.
Either way, both of these vacuums offer a stunning clean, no matter what your floor type.Related Roborock Articles
