Shark Wandvac System Review

Shark is known for quality vacuums with powerful suction action and expensive names. Built for the stay-at-home mom to take her game to the next level, in all my days I never thought I would be so ready to tear a product apart.

Shark Wandvac System Overview

The vacuum is overall a saving grace for people moving from their mom’s old vacuum, having been in the family for generations with a dust filter so clogged it creates its own vacuum seal but taking a peek below the surface you really start to see this vacuum’s intended audience is strictly people who don’t know squat about good vacuums.

The Good

There are saving qualities in this vacuum, and I’d like to give it some life before I tear it away. The portability is a huge factor in the purchase and using something of this size to clean a car is not as cumbersome as some might think, though under the seats is an automatic no-go because of the angle at which the vacuum’s end piece sits after being detached from the head.

It comes with two modes if purchased in such a package. Yes, there is a paywall to use the different modes on this vacuum, but the modes are very useful a boost mode, which sends the vacuum screaming into a flurry of suction you just can’t get regularly, and a deep clean mode, which just seems to be the added heads. Finally, it is surprisingly lightweight and simple to use. A child would have no issue doing chores with this, nor would a mother or grandparent.

The Bad

The battery lasts a measly fifteen minutes and takes a good half hour or more to charge back up, not allowing for a truly deep clean of the house or even a decently dirty family car. The nozzle attachments are not as powerful as advertised, which is disappointing because of the Shark name’s reputation.

The angle of the handheld vacuum is strikingly sharp, most likely because they need to attach a head to it. The bristle system that seems so outdated tangles hairs quite effectively, so if you or a loved one sheds a lot, prepare to bust out the scissors after a week of use to cut the hairs bogging down your vacuum.

The worst

The flat-out worst part of this vacuum is the storage. If you want an effective cleaning, you must empty this vacuum multiple times during the cleaning process, adding more time to the chore, less time for you and your loved ones, and extended frustration at the end of a long day.

Shark Wandvac System Final Words

It is simply inexcusable for the system to be as lackluster as it is when it holds the Shark title, and even more so inexcusable because people who love it may not discover the multitude of better, more appropriate options out there for them. If a loved one came to me with this vacuum as a gift, it would be a mystery to only them as to why I had to buy a new, better vacuum not but one week after they leave.
