Bissell is a powerful name in the household cleaning market, and for good reason. They make a multitude of Vacs, Deep Clean Machines, and Rug Cleaners, most of which are very high quality, with worthwhile price to performance.
Bissell Turboclean vs Crosswave Overview
The two machines we are covering today are no exception. Boasting a deep clean on all surfaces, we have the Bissell CrossWave. With a Rug focused deep clean for pet owners. Both have their place, and it’s my job to help you decide what will work best in your household.
Bissel CrossWave
The CrossWave is made for deep cleaning of all surfaces, with a special brush for hard flooring and a bottle of cleaning fluid to get you started. The way the machine works is well established, the soap goes in its special compartment, travels down with some water, mixes in by the brush, and gets scrubbed and sucked up by the vacuum components.
The dirty water is stored away for disposal later and you continue this process until your floor sparkles. But how does it do in its cleaning process? Well, as far as tiles are concerned, you won’t be able to clean deep grout messes, because the vacuum simply can’t brush up against a surface that isn’t flush.
Wood flooring is easy to clean, but be wary of the edges near the walls, as the vacuum is held back by its bulky exterior when coming up on a wall. It is a heavy machine, so it can be tiring to use over long stretches.
The attachments are easy to remove and well-made, so damage is not an issue unless you go into the filter with a pair of scissors. It does not reportedly handle carpet well, but it could be chalked up to human error in the process of trying to clean rugs that are too long.
Bissell TurboClean
This beautiful big machine is built for carpet, long or short, with bristles to get deep into the crevices and pull up any stink or grime that might have hidden from other systems. The vacuum is overall powerful and well made, but it is beastly heavy, and not for the faint of heart on startup, as it will not only yell but pull out its best Jean Simmons scream when it gets running.
It reportedly holds onto stink from its inside storage being slightly porous plastic, and a simple wipe isn’t always the trick. This is particularly true if you are having frequent potty-training accidents with a pet.
The vacuum portion is heralded as super strong on amazon reviews but is probably no more powerful than its counterpart. This is a somewhat less bulky unit than its counterpart having about a 10” path, which makes for good storage at the end of the cleaning process. The main selling point is stain removal, which a multitude of people have claimed is the best part of the machine, cleaning out years and years of grime from their thin or shag carpeting.
Comparison
These two devices have a great place in the home, but one is just a little bit more user-friendly and direct in its use case. The CrossWave is clunky, doesn’t get everything, and ends up being a hassle if your rug is too long, which for a lot of people is a very big dealbreaker. It also takes up a lot of space, which is hard to come by in this day and age.
There are redeeming qualities, such as its ability to fix wet messes extremely well using its specialized brush and cleaning solution, but it is overshadowed by entire areas of the house that can’t be cleaned with this device. The Bissell TurboClean has immense suction, powerful bristles, and a compact form that allows for easy storage.
The final decision maker actually is whether you have large stretches of carpet in your home, which is where the TurboClean shines and the CrossWave falls Short. If pet stains are your worry, the Turbo is the main attraction, but if you are worried about your child’s spilled juice or milk, you might want to look into the CrossWave, because it handles wet messes much more effectively than the TurboClean

Bissell Turboclean vs Crosswave Final Thoughts
The TurboClean Looks to be a solid value for performance given in specific use-cases, as is the CrossWave, but the flaws of the former are much less noticeable by way of day-to-day use.
The latter is just not a catch-all vacuum cleaner, and likely needs to be supplemented by another machine to do half the job before it comes in for small cleanup. All in all, it is a very expensive mop, as opposed to the former, which is a solid rug cleaner that appears to have a solid build quality.
